【摘要】:Thistestmethodisdesignedtodeterminewhetherthesulfonatetestedwillberemovedsufficientlybyusualmethodsofsewagetreatmentfortheeffluenttobesafelydischargedtotheenvironmentwithoutfurthertreatment.Ifthesurfactantreductioninthepresumptivetestequalsorexceeds90%,thematerialisconsideredtobeadequatelybiodegradablewithoutfurthertesting.Ifthesurfactantreductioninthepresumptivetestisbetween80and90%,thematerialshouldbesubjectedtotheconfirmingtest.Ifthesurfactantreductioninthepresumptivetestisbelow80%,thematerialisconsideredinadequatelybiodegradable.Ifitisnecessarytoruntheconfirmingtest,thesurfactantreductioninthistestmustbeatleast90%forthematerialtobeconsideredadequatelybiodegradable.AnexampleofdatafromboththepresumptiveandconfirmingtestcanbefoundinAppendixX4.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthedegreeofbiodegradabilityofalkylbenzenesulfonates.Itservesasanindexofthesuitabilityofthesulfonateforgeneraluseasasurfactant.1.2Ingeneral,thistestmethoddistinguishesbetweensulfonatesinwhichthealkylsidechainsarelinearandthoseinwhichtheyarebranched,sincetheformeraremorereadilybiodegradable.Ifthealkylbenzenesulfonateinfullyformulatedproductsistobeexamined,itmustbeextractedusingthemethodnotedinAnnexA1.(SeeAppendixX1fordata.)1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.MaterialSafetyDataSheetsareavailableforreagentsandmaterials.Reviewthemforhazardspriortousage.
